The Food In The Southwest
The food in the southwest is really needed. the natives used the method "dry farming ". dry farming is farming in the desert near a dam
the Hopi used this method and they were the most successfully farmers in America!!!! The Navajo did not use the method. they hunted animals for food and raid villages for food.
when the Spanish arrived they brought cattle and cows to farm but there was not a lot of grass in the dessert so there was not that much meat.
what types of food they ate
the Hopi grew over 24 types of corn. they also grew squash beans and other vegetables.
although there were animals, there were not that many. So they got there food from corn.(its funny that they live in a dessert!)
