Pueblos And Kivas
The Hopi built pueblos. Pueblos were box-like houses made of adobe. Adobe is a kind of clay that kept the pueblo cool during the day and warm in the night. The first floor of pueblos had no windows or floors. This kept attackers out. The second floor or higher had the widows or doors. The floors with the doors had ladders up to them, so the Hopi could pull them up for safety. It is a common mistake on websites to put the doors and windows on the bottom floor.
Most pueblo towns had kivas for their religious ceremonies. Kivas were round. They were like churches or synagogues for the Hopi.

Hogans
Hogans were what the Navajo lived in. They were dome shaped buildings made with log or sticks for framing. Mud or sod was on top of the frame. Later however, the Navajo moved to Canyon de Chelly.
The Navajo were a very aggressive tribe.
Archeologists found Pueblos and Hogans near each other. They think the Hopi and Navajo were friends.
